Why we built Tempest

Property management has always been demanding work. But somewhere along the way, the tools meant to help started adding to the pressure.

Another system to learn. Another integration promised but delayed. A key person leaves and suddenly no one knows where anything is. A large contract is won and the celebration is followed immediately by the weight of onboarding it. Underneath all of it is the same question from residents that was answered last week, and the week before.

We did not set out to build another platform. We set out to solve a problem we knew too well: property teams that are skilled, experienced and motivated, but constantly outrun by the volume and fragmentation of the work.

A native AI layer for real property work

Tempest is built as a native AI layer, not a rigid system retrofitted with AI features. It reads context, adapts to how your team works and responds to the actual pattern of property management rather than forcing that work into predefined fields and workflows.

It is flexible enough to handle the unstructured reality of the job, intuitive enough that a new team member can use it from day one, and connected enough to work alongside the systems you already have rather than replacing them. Tempest started from that frustration: built by people who have done this work, not just observed it.

Experience across the team

Tempest’s founders combine property expertise, technology leadership and practical operations. Tony Hymers is a chartered surveyor with over 30 years in residential property management. Calvin Liu is a former CTO of a Nasdaq-listed technology company, with expertise in software engineering and data governance. Lee Boquan has over 22 years’ experience in London property management, maintenance and service operations.

An accountable approach to AI

We believe technology should make the work easier to understand, not harder to oversee. Clear permissions, accessible records, review points and honest limits matter as much as a useful answer.

Where we are heading

Tempest continues to deepen the connection between resident service, property operations and management insight. Each new workflow must remain practical, accountable and clear about the source records, permissions and human decisions involved.
